Last year our school installed a new computer lab with 30 computers which are not always up and running. With a class of 30 it was not always easy to accommodate the whole class at one time. I look forward to trying again next school year when some of the problems have been worked out.
One thing I’d like to work on this year is giving my students time to go back and revise more often after having feedback from peers and myself. Technology would be a great tool for us to use and students would be much less reluctant to revise and rewrite if they were using computers. This will allow us to take our on demand writing to another level. Use of technology will also give students the opportunity to have more immediate feedback regarding their writing. Using the new computer lab will give us the ability to focus on more inquiry based learning and allow students to teach each other by giving interesting presentations and posting blogs regarding their learning and questions which may arise.
The ability to use technology is a must and it is up to teachers to give students opportunities and access to computer literacy.
