For our Summer Institute publication, we need “author blurbs”–those little “About the author” snippets that follow many articles/chapters in academic publications. These generally use the 3rd person, so it may feel a little awkward. Here’s an example from last year: “Andy _____ has taught mathematics for twelve years, most recently at _____ High School in Northern California. He is an avid outdoorsman, and coaches running sports at his school. He likes his women the way he likes his scotch: twelve years old and on the cheap side. He lives in Chico, CA.” You should feel free to include something funny or slightly irreverent, although I don’t know that you should go quite as far as Andy did–it could get you in trouble!
Please post your author blurb in the “comments” section.

Alicia is married to Terry, her high school sweetheart, whose deep brown eyes still leave her blushing and breathless. Alicia loves writing and won several awards throughout her childhood and adolescence for her truly magnificent horrid poetry. She has since stopped torturing people with her poetry and instead spends her time perfecting her crash landings as an endurance cyclist.
Linda Serrato began writing poems when she was eight. She now feels that she’s starting to get the hang of it. A friend told her recently, “You’re always stopping to look at things. I’m surprised you’re not a painter.” She thought about that a while and then realized that she is a painter. She just uses words instead. Linda also teaches third grade. Her dream is to go to the Lumberjack Festival in McCloud someday.
